The classic version of Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup of White Sugar
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1.5 cups of All Purpose Flour (I use this kind)
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Mini Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl place the butter, white sugar and brown sugar.
  4. Using either a stand mixer or a hand mixer cream the butter and sugars together on low speed for 3 minutes.
  5. Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl.
  6. Add in the egg and vanilla extract.
  7. Continue to cream/mix together for 7 more minutes (this is key!).
  8. The resulting mixture should be light and fluffy.
  9. Add in the dry ingredients that were mixed earlier and on low/stir speed, mix together until just combined, usually no more than 30 seconds.
  10. After the dough has come together, using a rubber spatula fold in the chocolate chips.
  11. Using a cookie scoop, scoop out the dough onto a greased baking sheet, placing no less than 1 inch apart to allow for the cookies to expand as they’re baking.
  12. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  13. Take the cookies out of the oven, even if they don’t look completely finished yet, and let them rest on the baking sheet for 2 additional minutes.
  14. Move to a cooling rack.
  15. Serve warm and enjoy!!! 🙂
