Healthy(er) BLT

I love BLT’s but with the processed white bread, the mayo with unhealthy oils, and probably not the best bacon option, it may not be the healthiest sandwich out there for you. I decided to do a quick tutorial on how to make a slightly healthy(er) BLT sandwich using Ezekiel bread, organic mayo, and uncured bacon.

Ezekiel bread uses sprouted grains and does not contain flour, which makes it easier to digest. I’ve actually been gluten free for 10+ years and have discovered that this kind of bread does not bother me. Obviously if you are gluten free and want to try this, check with your doctor first, especially if you have a severe reaction (mine is mild to moderate). The bacon that I use is uncured, which does not contain nitrites. The mayo I use is organic and does not contain the usual unhealthy oils.

What’s Inside?

  • Ezekiel Bread
  • Organic Mayo
  • Organic Tomatoes
  • Uncured Bacon
  • Spinach

How to Make a Healthy(er) BLT:

  • Cook bacon your preferred way. I like to make mine in a cast iron skillet.
  • While bacon is cooking, slice the tomato.
  • After bacon has cooked, toast the bread in the skillet.
  • Spread the mayo on the bread.
  • Place bacon, tomato, spinach on the bread in that order.
  • Enjoy!
