Unpopular opinion: It’s a little too early in my onion to be drinking pumpkin drinks and making pumpkin recipes. Two days ago it was literally 100 degrees F. BUT after I made this recipe for the first time I admit that I am in the “pumpkin spirit”. The rich pumpkin flavor of this latte has me ready for fall. Almost, anyway.

This one is so much more healthy than the ones you buy at the coffee shops. It uses real pumpkin, coconut sugar (or maple syrup) and organic milk (at least that’s what I used). I like making coffee drinks like this at home because the ones you get in the stores are full of artificial chemicals and usually have tons of sugar. I’ve never really been a huge fan of pumpkin spice lattes, or seasonal drinks, but this one is really good! I love making it in the early morning and drinking it on the porch when it’s cool outside. But that won’t be for another month or two!

What’s Inside?

  • Milk– I like to use grassfed, organic, whole milk. Whole milk gives coffee drinks such a rich, full taste. Feel free to use any type of milk you would like though. I’ve also used oat milk, which ended up tasting very good!
  • Espresso
  • Pumpkin Puree– Real pumpkin puree gives this drink a nice pumpkin-y taste you just can’t get from artificial chemicals. Yum!
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Coconut Sugar (or maple syrup)

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • Pour 2 shots of espresso or brew 2 oz strongly brewed coffee in a moka pot or using another method.
  • Put the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, sugar, and espresso into a small mixing bowl and whisk until combined. Place into mug of choice.
  • Steam or heat up your milk.
  • Pour the steamed/heated milk over the pumpkin espresso mixture and stir to combine.
  • Optional- Sprinkle cinnamon on top or top off with whipped cream!
